Planet Zoo 2 System Requirements: 16 GB RAM, 40 GB and an RTX 2060 Minimum

PC Last reviewed: Oct 3, 2026

Quick answer #

To run Planet Zoo 2 on PC you need at least 16 GB of RAM, 40 GB of storage (an SSD is recommended), Windows 10 or 11, DirectX 12 and a graphics card on the level of an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 (6GB VRAM), AMD Radeon RX 5600XT (6GB VRAM) or Intel Arc A750 (8GB VRAM).[1]

Frontier says these specs build "a well built up zoo" at above 30 FPS with Medium settings on the minimum specs, and 30 FPS with High settings on the recommended specs.[2]

Frontier's frame-rate guide Above 30 FPS, Medium settings 30 FPS, High settings

Specs as listed on Steam; frame rates from Frontier's help page.[1][2] Our reading of the table: memory and storage are the same on both tiers, so going from minimum to recommended is about the processor, the graphics card, Windows 11 and an SSD.

What actually slows it down #

Frontier warns that a creative simulation management game "will require more processing power the more animals and guests are in your zoo", with a smaller impact on the graphics card. It adds that this is most notable when changing graphics settings does not change the frame rate, and suggests extra cooling for laptops so the CPU can run at higher speeds.[2]

Windows 10 #

Windows 10 is on the minimum list, but the Steam page notes: "Microsoft has ended support for Windows 10 meaning we cannot guarantee ongoing compatibility."[1]

Mac, Steam Deck and cloud #

  • Mac: Frontier says: "There are no plans to release Planet Zoo 2 for MacOS." Steam lists Windows only.[2][1]
  • Steam Deck: Frontier's help page and the Steam store do not say anything about Steam Deck support or a Deck rating (checked Oct 3, 2026).[2][1]
  • Low-spec PCs: Planet Zoo 2 will be available through NVIDIA's GeForce NOW cloud gaming service, which Frontier points to for players without high-spec hardware.[2]
